Some of the Winery Regions You Can Visit
While there are not too many wineries inside the city of Asheville, there are a couple that can be enjoyed: The Biltmore Estate and Plēb Urban Winery. Note that neither of these have attached vineyards but they do offer a unique experience.
Located about 45 minutes south of Asheville the Hendersonville wineries are a cluster of 5 wineries inside the newly formed Crest of the Blue Ridge AVA designation. The three wineries are Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards, Burntshirt Vineyards, Point Lookout Vineyards, Marked Tree Vineyard, and Stone Ashe Vineyard.
A few minutes further south from the Hendersonville wineries is another cluster of great wineries in the Tryon Foothills of North Carolina. This area has a rich history of grape production that dates back over 100 years and today is home to four wineries: Parker-Binns Vineyard, Overmountain Vineyards, Mountain Brook Vineyards, and Russian Chapel-Hills Winery.
Lake James Wineries
East of Asheville (about 50 minutes) are a few wineries in the Lake James region of North Carolina: Silver Fork Winery and South Creek Winery. Both of these wineries have vineyards and are beautiful places to visit. There is also Lake James Cellars which is a winery without a vineyard.
